Today we went for another tour in a different hospital. This hospital was a little bit older and not as well equipped. We were shown some maternity rooms and some surgery rooms. They only had one relatively small laboratory for blood analysis. They said most other things, like for example cancer research is not done at the hospital. Cancer is also not treated at this hospital. Patients get referred to another hospital for this.
When we were shown the surgery rooms, there were a few surgeries in progress. We did not enter the rooms, but we were allowed to watch through a small window in the wall. In one of the surgeries, a something in a patient’s throat was operated on. In another room, the surgery was just finished and the doctors were stitching up a hole in the patient’s body. The last room however, was the most interesting. The surgeons were performing an open knee surgery on a woman. The whole knee cap was gone and a big area around the knee was open. We thought she maybe had a road accident and the surgeons were reconstructing the knee. The surgery was amazing to watch.
