The first thing I did in the morning was going to the laboratory to verify that the electrolyte tester was starting up correctly in the morning. I then asked the nurses in the laboratory if there are any other machines they were having problems with. They gave me some hemocue that are used to measure the haemoglobin concentration in the blood. The hemocue’s were working, but they were giving wrong readings apparently. The problem is: the hospital does not have any control solution. Hence I cannot say for sure if the hemocues are giving inaccurate reading or the other probe the nurses use to do readings. I contacted the manufacturer and asked where I can get the solution. Hopefully they’ll reply soon.
After lunch we checked some broken autoclaves the hospital has. The broken ones have defect heating elements. These are really hard to get for the model they have. We might have a look if we can order some online.
In the afternoon we were shown a big test station in the ETN (Ear, Throat, Nose) department. The unit did not power up or work correctly, they said. Unfortunately, they do not have a user manual since the unit was a donation. We also couldn’t find it only because the model is really old. Again, we contacted the manufacturer. Nevertheless, we had a go at repairing the machine. We got it to start up, but none of the function seemed to work. We suspect that we need some kind of oxygen and water tank (there are some connections for these at the back) to make it work.
After work, one of our friends from the laboratory showed us one of the places he likes to relax at. It was some kind of old theme park. Some of the rides are still in use and there were some cages with different animals. In the middle was a huge pond where people could feed fish. There were some crocodiles in a cage in the middle of a ride and two rabbits in the cage around the pond.
