At the beginning of the day, we worked on a voltage regulator. We have been working on it for a few days now but can’t find the problem. Something is broken which causes parts of the machine to heat up a lot. We also tested oximeter that we repaired a few days ago.
Our supervisor gave us a rather big job in the afternoon. A huge centrifuge (bigger than a top loader washing machine) was broken and they did not know why. Apparently they only used it 3 times and it already failed. Luckily taking it apart and putting it back together already fixed the screen problem. Maybe there was a loose connection somewhere. However, when we turned it on, the thermal sensor gave a wrong reading of the temperature inside. It said the machine was at -20 degrees, which was impossible. This caused that the refrigeration would not turn on when the centrifuge was started. The cambers inside would heat up a lot.
After quite some time, we found out that there was meant to be some gas in the compressor of the refrigeration system. Maybe the missing gas caused it? We’ll continue working on it on Monday.
