Day 32

Today was our first day at the hospital. When we arrived at the hospital in the morning, there were a few surprises waiting for us. When we called the hospital director, he didn’t seem to know who we were or why we were at the hospital. After we had explained to him who we were and gave him the letter from the University, we were taken to the workshop and waited there for quite some time. We did not do a lot today. Most of the time we just waited for somebody to explain something to us. Which was quite hard since nobody could speak English and our Khmer skills are not as good as we hoped they are. After sometime we found out that the hospital is not only very small, it has less than 100 machines in total and none of them are broken. If a machine breaks hey usually call the company and the company services the machines. Hence the director and managers of the hospital seemed confused why we are at their hospital since there is nothing really there for us to work at. So we spent most of the day waiting somewhere for somebody and got sent home really early at about 3pm (after having a lunch break that lasted nearly 3 hours). I hope our supervisor from the organisation can tell us what to do and give us a sense of direction.

Since we finished so early at the hospital, we decided to do a tour with our bicycles back to Phnom Penh. It is only around 10km one way back to the city.
