Today my friends and I did a lot of things. We first went to the Central market, another big market in Phnom Penh. There were a lot of shops packed in a small space, similar to the Russian market. However, there were a few more interesting things to eat at the Central market compared to the Russian market. (The Russian market seems to be better for clothes). We actually found some deep friend spiders and fried cockroaches. My friend tried some and apparently they taste similar to deep friend prawns O.O. I did not try any myself today. Maybe tomorrow? I am not too sure yet.

Afterwards we walked to What Phnom, the Buddhist temple in the city. It was a great experience to have a look at the architecture of the temple. I am alreadly looking forward to living with the home stay families. I wonder what they will tell us about their religion.

In the evening more of our friends from the program arrived at the hotel. Now 15/17 of us are already here. Of course we went for some delicious street food for dinner. You wouldn't believe how good some BBQ chicken tastes that you get from a random stall at the side of the road. Maybe because it was a coal grill not gas? Who knows.

Of course we aslo checked out one of the Pubs near our Hotel. Luckily it was Happy hour!! And after a few drinks the game of billiard was even more fun.

Lastly, we finished the day by having a quick swim in the roof top pool of the hotel. What a good finish of the day.

Tomorrow we will visit the University of Phutisastra for the first time. We will get a tour of the University and meet our language teacher who will teach us some Khmer as well as some more people from the Organization (EWH). In the afternoon we will then meet the homestay families for the first month. Exciting!!

This is the What Phnom temple. After climbing the stairs, this beautiful temple sits on top of the hill, overlooking the city. There is also a park around the temple which provides some cooling shade from the burning sun of Cambodia.

Some deep fried spiders and roaches we found at the markets. Luckily this is not really some of the food the locals eat. It's mostly there for the tourists.

Of course we also had some iced coffee to get us going in the morning. The coffee here tasted so amazing. It has a slight chocolate and vanilla taste. Apparently they pan fry the beans (my friend from the hostel told me) before roasting which makes them taste like this. Whatever they do to it, it makes it taste great!! I will definately take some back to Australia ^.^
