Day 37

This morning, we got up really early to take a river cruise to Siem Reap. The first thing we noticed: The boat is a lot smaller and way more packed than we thought. Also, Cambodia is way colder earlier in the day than we thought. Besides these little aspects, the cruise was really nice. Since it is dry season at the moment, the river is really shallow. We actually got stuck a couple of times and the owners had to push the boat for a few metres. The motor also broke once and had to be fixed. It was quite an adventure. We passed a lot of floating villages on the way. We also stopped at some to deliver items that people from Battambang sent with the boat. The villages were very interesting to see. They made me curious how the river would look during the wet season.

After around 11 hours, we finally arrived in Siem Reap!! The boat was only supposed to take 7 hours, but because of the shallow river, it took 11. It was worth it, but I would not do it a second time.
